Custom Retainers in Spokane, WA

When you invest in your dental health – you want to make sure you preserve your investment! The best way to keep the progress and success you have had with your orthodontic treatment is with a custom retainer. Our team at DaBell & Paventy Orthodontics will work with you after your braces are removed (or once your Invisalign® treatment has finished) to fit you with a retainer so your beautiful, bright smile can last for decades!

The Right Retainer for You

Every patient has a unique smile, and that means every patient will have a different plan for retainers. As a simple oral appliance, retainers will maintain the new position of your teeth when braces have been removed.

Types of Retainers

Invisible Retainers are made of clear plastic and fit snugly over the teeth. An invisible retainer is usually more discreet than a Hawley retainer, although it may not be as durable.

Hawley Retainers consist of wires and clasps embedded in a plastic body that covers the roof of the mouth (for the upper arch) or lies along the tongue-side of the teeth (for the lower arch). The clasps fit around certain teeth to anchor the retainer in place, while the wire arches across the front of the teeth to maintain their alignment.

Lower Fixed (or Bonded) Retainers, also called permanent retainers, are permanently attached to the backside of the front teeth. They prevent the teeth from shifting out of place and can only be removed by a dental professional.

DPO Retainer Peace of Mind Program

Once your orthodontic treatment is finished, don’t forget about the importance of maintaining your great result. Maintenance doesn’t require a lot of effort, but it does require consistently wearing retainers. Your first set of retainers is included with your treatment, but in order to be effective, retainers need to be replaced every one to two years. Add to that the possibility of loss or damage to your retainers, and it can get expensive.

In order to help you with your retainers, we’ve developed the Retainer Peace of Mind Program.

For just $749 you get the following benefits for 10 years:

Unlimited retainers for only a $25 co-pay each

Retainers regularly priced at $150 each or $250 for two

50% off lingual wire repairs or replacements

Normally $100 - $200

50% off Invisalign Touch-up

Normally $100 per aligner

50% off Braces Touch-up

Normally $200 per month

This program not only gives you huge savings over time, but it also gives you the peace of mind knowing that you are covered if something happens to your retainers.

If you sign up for the program at the beginning of treatment, you can spread the cost over the course of your treatment.

If you sign up for the program after your treatment is completed, you have 3 payment options:

Retainer Care Tips

Retainers play a crucial role in maintaining the alignment of your teeth after you have completed orthodontic treatment. Wearing retainers regularly prevents teeth from shifting back into their original positions and helps you keep your healthy smile.

Like any dental appliance, retainers require proper care and maintenance to function effectively and last a long time. To help you keep your retainers in top condition, we have compiled a list of simple and practical steps that you can take to keep your retainers clean and protected.

Brush your retainer

Clean your retainer regularly.

Treat your retainer like your own teeth! After each wear, brush your retainer gently with a toothbrush and water. Be careful with some kinds of toothpaste, especially whitening toothpaste, as they can be abrasive to your retainer and cause small scratches making it harder to keep clean.

Soak

Soak your retainer.

To add a little extra 'clean' to your retainer, try soaking it. You can purchase retainer cleaning products, like Retainer Brite, which comes in tablet form. If your retainer needs to be disinfected or starts smelling bad, you can make a disinfecting solution by mixing 1 part sodium hypochlorite bleach with 10 parts water. Soak for 5 minutes, rinse thoroughly with water and your retainer will be squeaky clean!

Avoid dogs

Keep your retainer away from kids and pets.

We get it, you may love your pooch, but they sure do have a knack for snacking on retainers! Keep your retainer safe and out of the way by placing it high so pups and small children can't get to them.

Brush your teeth

Brush your teeth.

Before putting on your retainer, brush your teeth! If you place your retainer on dirty teeth, your retainer will get dirty much faster and it's not good for your teeth either.

Avoid napkins

Avoid wrapping your retainer in a napkin.

If you wrap your retainer in a napkin during meals, it can be easy to toss your napkin - along with the retainer - into the garbage. To avoid a gross trip into the dumpster, always keep your retainer in the retainer case when it is not in your mouth.

Keep it in the case

Wear them - don't lose them.

Retainers should be worn every night - forever - or until your orthodontist tells you differently. Wearing your retainer properly is the best way to keep your smile looking perfect year after year. When not wearing it - keep it in its case.
