I’m Dr. Shannon Magnuson, or Dr. M. I’ve been practicing orthodontics in Spokane since 1996. I am blessed to have such a rewarding profession. I get to make people smile every day! My interest in orthodontics started at an early age and blossomed as I found my profession to be a unique blend of art and science. I spent my undergraduate years at the University of the Pacific near the San Francisco Bay Area where I grew up. I crossed the country to attend dental school at West Virginia University where I graduated as valedictorian of my class. I received numerous awards and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon honorary dental society. I chose to pursue my orthodontic specialty training at the University of Washington where I received my Master of Science and Dentistry degree. This prestigious program influenced me to pursue clinical excellence and critical thinking in my daily practice. I am an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists, Washington State Society of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, and Spokane District Dental Society. I enjoyed school and continue to pursue frequent continuing education opportunities. I currently enjoy volunteering on the Inland Empire Maxillofacial Review Board. This is a team of medical specialists who examine children with craniofacial problems and make recommendations for their care. Through the years, I have also been an active participant in orthodontic and multidisciplinary study clubs with professionals from all over the country.
In my personal life, I am busy trying to keep up with my very active, fun-loving daughters, Chloe and Emma. We try to fit it all in – sports, music classes, church activities, family dinners, golfing, etc. Like most moms, free time is pretty hard to come by, but when given the opportunity I enjoy cooking, reading and running. My husband, Tim, and I were high school sweethearts and later went through dental school together. Tim has practiced endodontics in north Spokane since 1997. As a family we enjoy community service projects and actively support and contribute to a variety of schools, charities and philanthropic organizations.
